We are conducting a search on behalf of United States Steel Corporation for their newly created position of Director, Clinical Case Management. U.S. Steel, headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pa., is an integrated steel producer with major production operations in the United States, Canada and Central Europe and an annual raw steelmaking capability of 31.7 million net tons. The company manufactures a wide range of value-added steel sheet and tubular products for the automotive, appliance, container, industrial machinery, construction, and oil and gas industries. 

The Director of Clinical Case Management reports directly to the General Manager-Health Services and Medical Director and will be based at the corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The position shall consist specifically of functions needed to direct clinical disability management programs and support the clinical aspects of all healthcare management programs.

 

Successful candidates will be physician leaders who possess:

  • The ability to assume a full time position requiring on site services 40 hours per week with some call required
  • A current license to practice medicine in the state of Pennsylvania
  • Completion of an accredited Occupational Medicine Residency program (or other ABMS specialty with appropriate experience) with active pursuit of Board Certification.
  • Prior experience with clinical case management (required)

The position, Health Scientist GS-601-15, involves primary responsibility for providing advice and assistance on the development, direction, and coordination of transferring research knowledge, technologies, and interventions management for preventing work-related injuries, illnesses, and deaths.

Because it is a supervisory position, candidates must also have demonstrated or shown the potential to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Applicants should describe any previous experience or responsibilities which could be used in relation to the supervisory requirements of this position. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, and a security clearance is required. The position is open to applicants from inside and outside the Federal Government.

The goal of NIOSH’s research and technology transfer program, Research to Practice (r2p), is to reduce occupational illness and injury by increasing workplace use of effective NIOSH and NIOSH-funded research findings. NIOSH works with its partners to focus research on ways to develop effective products, translate research findings into practice, target dissemination efforts, and evaluate and demonstrate the effectiveness of those efforts in improving worker health and safety.
